I feel like I’m the only one who knows a bit about Gundam… it feels sad. I dunno. I just hope people can understand how cool Gundam is…

There's alot of Gundam fans on here. Myself included, ritascounterattack is another.
I don't know very much about Gundam but I think the concept is rad and the art I've seen of it goes insane. One of those franchises that I'm somewhat familiar with but I've never actually gone and watched/read it. Kinda like the Lord of the Rings.
I am sooo sorry... I have "Gundam opinions":
Minovsky physics aside, 'Gundam' is... Well... I feel they made the franchise inaccessible to newcomers _on_purpose_.
I liked the first season of 'The Witch from Mercury' (not the second, though) and I like the Mech-designs in general, but none of the multiple 'Gundam' series I tried clicked with me.
As far as I understand it, 'Mobile Suit Gundam SEED' essentially requires the viewer to watch an entire other series so the backgrounds and names become comprehensible. Which they neglect to tell you! The studio "remembered" to give a bit of an overview after E13. At which point they would already have lost most viewers... I stuck with them until E20 or something and looked up additional material, but aside from the 'lore issues' none of the characters is particularly endearing. To put it bluntly: "I don't care which side wins or loses." - to the point that I cut my losses and stopped watching.
Here's a good video if any of you ever want to check 'Mobile Suit Gundam SEED' out (maybe download it, in case YT gets closed down until you get around to it):
Japan Sci-Fi Breakdowns - ALL HISTORY of SEED & SEED DESTINY explained!! GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM [2023-10-24]

(Watch from the beginning until 13:34 to stay spoiler-free.)
'Iron-Blooded Orphans' is allegedly good, but at this point I'd rather watch 'Patlabor' and all of 'Macross' before I give any 'Gundam' series a chance again. ;p
'Patlabor' got recommended to me by someone, so I might actually watch it at some point.
Some random asides:
- 'Amaim Warrior at the Borderline' is extremely xenophobic as well as boring. Cannot recommend! Nice looking models, though.
- 'Darling in the FranXX' is... How do I put this...? I somehow powered through it, but... "Watching it makes me want to see the world burn."
- "'Escaflowne' was a mistake."
- 'Knights of Sidonia' is a lot of hours you'll wish you could get back. After about an hour you're like "This 'has' to get better, right...?"
- I cannot recommend 'Infinite Ryvius' either. They try a lot and none of it works...
- 'Robotics;Notes' forgot what it was about at some point during the first few episodes. I think it tries to be everything - and thus ends up being nothing...
- 'Sakugan' is not even worth complaining about.
- I think you'd end up on some kind of _list_ if you ever watched 'Sky Girls'. ;P (Which is allegedly 'Mecha', but "for reasons that will become apparent" I have not looked further into it...)
- 'SSSS.Dynazenon' & 'SSSS.Gridman' are aimed at an audience under the age of 15...
- But 'Knight's & Magic' was a lot of fun. (The typo is in the original title. Blame the Japanese...)
- I 'could' watch the remake of 'Neon Genesis Evangelion', but I would probably just constantly compare it to the original...
- 'The Big O' was well-written and -animated, but at some point I lost interest in the characters.
- 'Vandread' might be good, but I cannot stand another long comedy series for this decade.
- The original 'Bubblegum Crisis' is great, but not really "Mecha"-Mecha...
- I have no idea if 'Saber Rider and the Starsheriffs' was actually watchable or if I was just young. And I'm not brave enough to check... ;)
Other than that... 'Front Mission Series - Gun Hazard' (Super Famicom) is allegedly very good and has an English Translation Patch on Romhacking.net. Mentioning that for no particular reason...
I hate war, and I like to look at hot guys. Does that get me anywhere??
@scrabpook, I’m really confused…
@scrabpook You should watch Gundam Wing. Bishonen anime with an underlying message about the horrors of war and trying to find true peace for all.
Try making a topic about it on tha Forums, i think there are some but ya aint gonna have much of a reach with just blog posts.
