I surprisingly never thought of it that way… I believe it may be boiled down to the monochrome colors and similar art style, but that’s all my speculation. Although your art is very lovely and creative Madam.

Well, the style ain't nothing new or innovative in any way neither in SG or ICS, I mean Jhonen Vazquez (JV) and Roman Dirge (RD) were already working with these styles in the late 90s (Invader Zim, Squee!, Lenore the Cute Little Dead Girl, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac)
